Dammatha responded cheerfully that invitation, because in fact his community has been doing a similiar program: making the signposts filled with quotes of wisdom taken from the Holy Book. The signposts will be put in every houses’ yard in Tebango Backwoods. The negotiation then was going well. People of Kearifan Lokal Tebango Community will provide Sulung the materials to be treated as contents in his works, while Sulung will share his insight and skill in making visual works to people of Tebango. Dammatha said that there’re two hundred houses that should get the signposts.
Sulung Met Dammatha
Sulung Widya Prasastyo, a Yogyakarta-based street artist, has a plan to make artwork in the form of text-based artworks at some sites in Pemenang. The sites will be spread in three areas of three religions, the settlements of Moslems, Hindus, and Buddhist. Therefore, at January 29th, 2016, Sulung visited Tebango Backwoods, East Pemenang Village, to meet Dammatha Samena (the Chairperson of Komunitas Kearifan Lokal Tebango). Accompanied by Arief Yudi (curator of akumassa Chronicle) and Muhammad Gozali (Director of pasirputih), Sulung explained his intention to invite people of Tebango to work in collaboration for his art project.
