Within three days, from 27 to 29 of January, 2016, the office of pasirputih was frenzied by busy activity of its members. They were designing a concept of an event which was intended to be part of akumassa Chronicle. On the sidelines of socialization about this project to various elements of the villages and Subdistrict of Pemenang, the members of pasirputih tried to uncover one keyword that was expected could be assessed as a trigger for plurality in their subdistrict. Through a long discussion guided by Otty Widasari (curator of akumassa Chronicle), it was decided then a concept of the event, that is a kind of ‘folk festival’, which is to be held in Bangsal Harbor. We chose a theme, namely “Let’s Come Back to Bangsal!” for the event. We chose this theme due to Bangsal which is a location where most people in Pemenang have a memories about local wisdom that were still free from the negative impacts of tourism development. One of the memories is the activity owned by three religions who live side by side in harmony in Pemenang (Moslems, Hindus, Buddhist): “go swimming to Bangsal” in the celebration of their respective great days in the context of their local tradition. Based on that story, in the framework to condense the theme, we then chose a word, “Membasaq” (means: to wash), while the festival itself named “Bangsal Menggawe” (means: Bangsal have a celebration). In addition, the final works of all participants (artists and writers) of akumassa Chronicle at North Lombok will be also presented in the event, namely Bangsal Menggawe 2016: Membasaq. This event is planned to involve all of elements including all of local citizens and communities in Pemenang Subdistrict. We intend to conduct the Bangsal Menggawe in every year, as a festival initiated and managed by the citizens of Pemenang.
Within the three days, the office of pasirputih was also visited by some teenagers and young adults who live in Karang Baru Backwoods. They are Dodi and Reza, two sons of Mr. Najamudin (a local musician in Pemenang). Dodi is one of the young men who have a hobby of graffiti and murals, while Reza is a student of Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer, Denpasar, Bali, majoring graphic design. Interested to participate in collaboration with street artist who are involved as participants of akumassa Chronicle, Dodi and Reza then came to pasirputih on January 27th. Unfortunately, the street artists (Sulung and The Broy) were not in the office because they were doing observation so they couldn’t see the guys. Meanwhile, on January 28th, two teenagers, Hijrah and Harum, came to pasirputih because they would like to give back some books they borrowed before from pasirputih. Muhammad Gozali then invited them to talk, offering them to participate in akumassa Chronicle activities. Hijrah, one of the teenagers, has an interest in literature. She likes to write short fiction, so we introduced her to Baiq Ilda Karwayu (a poet), one of the participants of akumassa Chronicle. While Harum likes to create manga, so there is an opportunity for her to share experiences of drawing with The Broy. We plan to introduced her to The Broy in the other days.
